Gian Paolo Rossi is Full Professor of Computer Networks at the Dipartimento di Informatica e Comunicazione (DICo), Università di Milano, Italy, where he has been leading the Computer Networks Laboratory (NPTLab) since 1985. He spent 2 postdoc years at the Joint Research Center of the EC in Ispra, where he partecipated to the development and the deployment of the first european packet switched network (EIN). He joined the University of Milano in 1980 as an Assistant Professor. Current research interests include: design and performance evaluation of distributed algorithms, multicasting protocols and routing protocols for Mobile ad hoc Networks, Delay Tolerant Networks, Sensor Networks. Research projects: He is the coordinator of the national project CARTOON, funded by the Italian government in the frame of MIUR PRIN 2006. Other projects can be found at the NPTLab site. Non academic activities: In 1985 he co-founded Syrea, an engineering and development company in the ICTs. In 1990 he co-founded Teach, an italian leading technology transfer company.
