Ismail D Legason

Legason is an early career scientist and a doctoral student at the University of Oxford, UK. He completed his undergraduate and postgraduate education in Uganda. His research interests include next-generation sequencing applications for diagnosing common haematological malignancies, focusing on Burkitt lymphoma- a childhood malignancy endemic in sub-Saharan Africa. Before joining Oxford University, Legason coordinated two multicenter studies in Uganda: the Aggressive Infection-related East Africa Lymphoma study and the Epidemiology of Burkitt Lymphoma in East African Children or Minors (EMBLEM). Legason is also an academic member of the faculty of Health Sciences- at Muni University in Uganda. He previously served as the institution's interim Research and Ethics Committee chair.
