Professor Apperley has occupied international leadership positions including Presidencies of the British Society of Blood and Marrow Transplantation (BSBMT), the European Society of Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT), the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR) and the Joint Accreditation Committee of EISCT and EBMT (JACIE). She has reviewed national and international grant awards including acting as Chair of the European Research Council ‘Starting Investigators’ program.
